Amenities

Choose from one of four wonderful double bedrooms in the main house, which are comfortably furnished with traditional bedsteads, Egyptian cotton bed linen, natural down duvets and pillows. All have gorgeous views across the garden to the meadows and the valley beyond. Like you’re staying with friends, there’s a real homely feel and every effort is made to make your stay enjoyable and relaxing.

Outside is a wide stone terrace overlooking the garden, maintained as a meadow parterre with old apple trees and mature oaks. While inside the spacious drawing room features an old fireplace with log burner with a large pair of large sofas either side. The dining room is at the heart of the farmhouse and seats six very comfortably around the rustic antique french dining table.

Just behind the house, the Old Dairy Studio is bright and spacious and gives everyone room to focus on lessons before heading out to capture the landscape around the meadows and valley.

Painting Holidays for all levels on the Somerset Devon border.

Food

We think food and drink play an important part of your break and our focus is to serve healthy and delicious meals, prepared by our wonderful chef Mark Jerem (Mark Hix, River Cottage). Made with fresh local ingredients, all meals are included in your stay and a typical breakfast would include fresh baked croissant or toast served with local honey, a wholesome and tasty granola with fresh local yoghurt and fruit, tea, coffee and fresh juice. Lunch could be a fresh and nourishing salad with salmon quiche, while dinner might be a local lamb tagine or Brixham crab linguine. Of course, all food preferences are catered for. Though not obligatory, we find an afternoon break for tea and scones, with local clotted cream and jam often goes down well.

Residential Art Holidays for all levels.

Locally

For guests who would like to explore the area there is a wide network of public footpaths and quiet lanes through the beautiful and unspoilt landscape and characterful villages. Nature lovers can also visit one of many Nature Reserves on the Blackdowns or discover a rich heritage of historical sites. There is a thriving arts and culture scene and the nearest town of Wellington is packed with the kind of distinctive and independent shops that have vanished from many other UK High Streets. Locally sourced meats and cheeses are easily available and a Farmers Market is held every first and third Saturday of the month. Lyme Regis, on the World Heritage Jurassic Coast is a 30 minute drive South through the hills.
